Kilmarnock Magic Circle

In 1980 the oldest members (the original founder members) were made honorary members. As the original die for the badge had been lost a new K.M.C was cut in 1981. From 1981 to 1986, the club saw an intake of many popular Children's Entertainers; William Williamson (Uncle Billy), Kenneth Kerr (Kenny Kerr), Douglas Paterson (Douglas the Clown) and Malcolm Wilson (Magic Malky). Two younger members of the club were showing promising talent with wins at the Edinburgh Young Magicians Competition 1987 for Lynne McNamara and Irfan Merchant. 1987 saw Richard McNamara as President of SAMS.

1988 was an important year for the club, not only was the club celebrating their 50th birthday, but at the SAMS convention that year the club walked away with 6 Trophies:

The McMillan Shield: 1st Lynne Mcnamara 3rd William Williamson

The Max Raskin Cup: 1st William Williamson 3rd Elizabeth McNamara

Close Up Competition: 2nd Irfan Merchant

Sir Alexander Cannon Trophy: Kilmarnock Magic Circle

For the Club's 50th birthday a One Day Convention was held at Galston Community Centre with a display of all the trophies won at SAMS on display. Provost J. Mills opened the convention and a lecture was given by James Brodie. The following year Richard McNamara win the Anne Warlock Cup at that years SAMS convention.

In the early 1990's many new members joined the club including; G. Forbes, W. McAllan, C.Young, J.Brodie, A.Duncan and junior members S.Allan and C.McLaughlin. In 1993-94 Richard and Elizabeth McNamara won the Max Raskin Cup at the SAMS convention.

1998 saw Kilmarnock celebrate it's 60th birthday. A One Day Convention was held at Kilmarnock Academy on Saturday 4th April. An exhibition was held at the Dick Institute Library showing off historical magical artefacts from the club. Competitions were running within local  primary schools, with the children being asked to draw a magical picture, with winners receiving tickets for the gala show that night. A wooden horse constructed by a club member was also being raffled off during the night. The gala night was a great success with acts ranging from Ventrioquism to Illusion and even the Academy Dancers.

At the SAMS Convention 1998, Kenny Kerr won the Max Raskin Cup for the best ten minute Children's Magic Act.
